Minecraft 1.8 Update Video

Here is a great video of the new Minecraft 1.8 update.  Looks like tons of new stuff coming Minecraft's way.

From Notch:  Most of the basics of the game engine is in place, so it’s time to flesh this game out into something more gamey. More content, more exploration, more things to do, and interesting combat! Once this update is out, there will only some tweaks, optimizations and code cleanups left to the core game before we can call it a full release.

Mincraft Jumps to XBox 360

Minecraft is one of those oh-so-rare success stories in which a guy with an idea took on his own marketing and created a sandbox title that people genuinely wanted to play. Minecraft has gotten to the point where it is being ported to XBox 360.

Minecraft will be using the Kinect to help you build your world, punch your trees, and fend off the Creeper hordes in a giant grandiose sandbox.

The plan with doesn't involve any any significant modification to the game.  The main difference will be the controls, taking them from PC to Xbox 360 and Kinect, so if you were already enjoying Minecraft on PC, you may not have a whole lot of reason to make the jump to enjoying it on Xbox 360.

Patch 1.6: Trapdoors, Maps and Wild Grass!

Entertaining Minecraft Patch 1.6 video by the YogsCast.  In the video the demonstrate Trapdoors, Maps and WildGrass.  It talks about Mushrooms and mushroom farms.  The demonstrate the benefits of a trap door - by having a house with a the only entrance is a trap door. 
 

Maps can be drawn by the user. One neat thing about Maps is that you can actually walk off the map, just like in real life.
